March to Parliament on 15.09.2017
The programme of March to Parliament under the banner of UFBU was intimated to
you all through our circular no.20/2017 dated 26.07.2017 and in the same circular
expected minimum participation from each state unit was also mentioned. We are
confident that necessary preparations by all state units are in process and all
arrangements for journey tickets and accommodations, where necessary, have also
been made. From the centre we are printing posters as per specimen given by
UFBU and some posters will be sent to all States. Printing of posters on this
programme in local language, as per specimen being sent by mail separately, should
also be arranged and widely displayed.
Our 3rd National Women Convention will be held in Chennai on 17th and 18th of
December 2017. Our Tamil Nadu State Unit is the host for this event and they are
making all preparations for success of the Convention.
Our last Office Bearers’ meeting decided that following will be the arrangement for
participation by our state units:
Andhra Pradesh-5, Bihar – 5, Chandigarh – 2, Chhattisgarh – 2, Delhi – 2, Eastern
Maharashtra – 2, Goa – 2, Gujarat – 2, Haryana – 2, Himachal Pradesh – 2,
Jharkhand – 5, Jammu & Kashmir – 2, Karnataka – 25, Kerala – 30, Madhya
Pradesh – 3, North-Eastern States – 5, Orissa – 20, Punjab – 2, Rajasthan – 3,
Tamil Nadu – 40, Telangana -05, Tripura –3, Uttarakhand- 2 Uttar Pradesh – 3, West
Bengal – 60, Western Maharashtra – 5.
The session of Convention will commence at 10-00 A.M. on 17th which will be
preceded by a procession. As planned by our host unit, the Convention will be
concluded by 05-00 P.M. on 18th. The lists of participants as per the above numbers
are to be finalised by all State Units and the same should be intimated to the Central
Office as soon as possible.
All units must ensure that all the women representatives reach Chennai by 16th
evening or latest by early morning of 17th so that all can join the procession to
start at around 09-30 A.M.
Talks with IBA
The Sub-Committee constituted on behalf of the workmen unions to discuss non-financial
items with IBA held three rounds of talks including one held on date. Issues like improvement
in LFC, Leave rules, service conditions relating to women etc. were discussed. Some understanding
on some issues also could be reached. On behalf of IBA some counter demands were raised, most of
which have been rejected by the union representatives. Next round of sitting is slated for 3rd
October 2017. Our President Com. C.J.Nandakumar is representing our Federation in the Sub-Committee.
Trade Union Workshop
Our General Council meeting held in Agartala decided to organise Trade Union Workshops for the new entrants
in the industry centering round Birth Centenary of Comrade Naresh Paul.
First such camps has successfully been organised under the auspices of our West Bengal State Unit in Kolkata
on 26th and 27th August 2017. More than 200 young activists who have joined the banking service during the
period of last 10 years working in North Eastern States, Tripura, Odisha and West Bengal attended. Sizable
number of women new entrants also participated. All the participants were very enthusiastic and attentive.
The faculty members in the workshop were distinguished Professors from Calcutta University. The workshop
was inaugurated by Com. Shyamal Chakraborty, National Vice President of CITU.
Two more such camps will also be held, one for southern states in Bengaluru and
the other for Hindi speaking states in Patna. The dates for which will be finalised
in our Central Committee meeting to be held in Delhi on 14th of this month.
